Where to start? We admit, as a PTA we may be a little biased when we say that our sweet neighborhood school is a hidden gem. But as we made the list below we realized there was no bias - Rama Road Elementary is just that awesome! Benefits of attending Rama Road Elementary
A true neighborhood school
Many of our students walk or ride their bikes to and from school.
No long bus rides or late drop-offs for our scholars who don’t walk to school! We are an early school, starting at 7:45 and dismissing at 2:45 – meaning plenty of time for afterschool activities and family.
Individualized learning with a focus on student growth
Small group blocks for math and literacy that allows every student to receive instruction tailored to their learning level.
Two Elementary Talent Development (TD) Catalyst Model teachers to ensure our academically gifted students have additional opportunities to learn
TWO full-time labs that focus on STEM and project-based learning for students to experience each week during Special Area classes - a Science Lab and Creative Commons
Outdoor Learning Lab – Rama recently received a $100,000 grant from Out Teach (out-teach.org) to build a state-of-the-art learning lab on our campus!
Focus on the whole child
NC ASCD Whole Child Award-winning school
A dedicated mindfulness lab that all students visit once per week
Weekly lessons from the SPOT curriculum with a focus on helping children identify their emotions and work together to manage their feelings – big and small
Monthly “house” assemblies where students work together on projects with a focus on learning how to collaborate and appreciate the various strengths each student brings to a project.
Extra-curricular opportunities
Battle of the Books team
Chess Club
Girl Scout troop
Girls on the Run
Guitar Ensemble (led by our classically trained music teacher!)
So what does the PTA do? The mission of the Rama Road PTA is to engage our community to bridge the gap between what the district provides and what our students need to excel in their academic learning. Download the infographic for more info!
